The COVA (Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authenticity) learning approach has significantly influenced my experience in the ADL program and my everyday tasks. By allowing learners to choose how they present their learning, COVA boosts engagement and personalization, fostering a more authentic educational experience.

With a deeper understanding of COVA, I’m increasingly drawn to its application. Given the diverse ages and backgrounds of my students, this model helps unify them after covering a topic and encourages more effective communication about the material.

Encouraging students to find their voice remains a challenge, especially given our current struggles in this area. I plan to use the COVA approach in the coming year to create a more comfortable environment where students feel more at ease speaking up.

Both the Growth Mindset and COVA approach focus on empowering learners through choice and ownership of their educational journey (Harapnuik, 2018). They view challenges and setbacks as integral to learning and growth.

Maintaining a learner’s mindset keeps me engaged as both a student and educator. I recognize that education must continually adapt to meet evolving student needs, requiring flexibility and ongoing learning from educators
