Self-Assessment: Contribution to Your Learning and the Learning Community
For this self-assessment, I have selected a score of 95 for my contributions to both my learning and the learning community. This rationale will go over the factors that led to this score, such as my participation in class activities, working with my peers, and areas where I can improve. I will also provide an overview of my contributions, describe the members of my collaboration group, and highlight how these efforts have aligned with the course objectives and the expectations outlined in the Self-Assessment Marking Guide.
What is Working
First, I believe I have made meaningful contributions to my learning. I have consistently completed all course readings, watched videos, and engaged with all supporting resources. I’ve ensured that my understanding of the content is thorough, which is reflected in the quality of my assignments and class discussions. I have particularly found the readings and videos helpful in strengthening my understanding of the concepts discussed in class. In addition, I took proactive steps to revise my assignments after receiving feedback. This iterative process has helped me refine my work and apply new awareness from both the feedback provided by instructors and the additional perspectives shared by my classmates. Revising assignments has been an essential part of my learning process, allowing me to not only improve the quality of my work but also to incorporate my learning more effectively. Another aspect of my contribution is my active involvement in the course’s collaborative activities. I have been a consistent participant in the discussions, providing constructive feedback and feedforward. This has helped foster a collaborative learning environment where my peers and I could learn from each other’s experiences and insights.
What I Can Do Better
While I am content with my overall contributions, I recognize that there are areas where I can improve. One area that I aim to enhance is the consistency of my peer feedback. While I have participated actively in peer discussions and provided constructive feedback, I feel that I could engage more deeply with the feedback I give to my peers. In the future, I will aim to provide more specific examples and actionable advice in my responses to peer posts. By doing so, I can contribute to a more meaningful exchange of ideas within the class community. Additionally, although I have met deadlines and contributed to the forums on time, I believe that I could benefit from being more proactive in initiating discussions with my peers. I tend to wait for others to start conversations before contributing, but I would like to take a more leadership-oriented approach by initiating topics and encouraging discussion. This would help foster a more dynamic learning environment for all involved.
Contributions to the Learning Community
My contributions to the learning community have been aligned with the course’s objectives. I have worked consistently with my base group members, which has significantly enhanced our collective learning. I collaborated with the following peers throughout the course: Joseph Perrone, Whitney Davis, Patty Hamilton, Melissa Richards, Adaliz Barroso, and Khelia Olison Williams. These members and I have shared ideas, reviewed each other’s assignments, and provided feedback to one another on time. This collaborative process has not only helped me improve my work but has also deepened my understanding of the course content by joining various perspectives. Furthermore, I actively contributed to the broader class community by posting in the course forums. The posts I shared went beyond basic answers and attempted to add value to the ongoing conversation. I shared relevant articles, made connections to the course material, and asked questions that prompted further reflection from my peers. This helped build a sense of community within the class, where everyone felt comfortable participating and learning from each other.
Conclusion and Final Score
In conclusion, I believe that my overall contributions to the course meet the criteria for a score of 95. I have consistently participated in class activities, collaborated with peers, provided valuable feedback, and revised my work based on instructor and peer feedback. My contributions have not only supported my learning but also enhanced the learning experience of my peers.
While there is always room for improvement, especially in providing more specific feedback and being more proactive in discussions, I feel confident that my contributions have been meaningful and aligned with the course objectives. The next steps in my learning journey will focus on refining these areas for improvement, ensuring that I continue to grow as a self-directed and collaborative learner.
